Configuration Naming Conventions

Post by K5AGO » Mon Mar 02, 2015 5:18 pm

For Linksys and Ubiquiti firmware configuration, is there a list of preferred option settings for SSID, frequency, bandwidth, max transmit rate, etc. and is there a naming convention for the "Device Name", such as location + call sign? Thanks, Jack/K5AGO

Jack,

For SSID, channel, bandwidth, etc., we've been using the default values. Changing the values in the "WiFi" box will prohibit you from linking with the already deployed equipment. However, it may be useful to use an alternate SSID or channel if you ever wanted to create a separate mesh network. Two nodes with identical SSID, Channel, and Channel Width settings should link with each other. See the below image for an example of the configuration settings.

Regarding device or node names, most everyone has been using the format of "CALLSIGN-DESCRIPTOR". See the below image for some examples.

Hope that helps!
