Has anyone tried FSQ?

http://www.qsl.net/zl1bpu/MFSK/FSQweb.htm

Looks interesting and supposedly will also work on VHF FM as well as HF.

Re: New guy here!

Welcome back Wayne! From listening to the repeater this past storm season, looks like we can use some more hams on the far side of the county! The spouse and I've lived in Lewisville for the past 4 years. Just got back into the hobby and dragged her into it too! We just put a VHF/UHF antenna o...

Re: Grounding System tips

I also reviewed NEC Article 810 with my FIL, (who is an electrician), looks like I've met or exceeded the code requirements. :D

Re: Grounding System tips

Eric, As for Cadweld, it was the best option for the buried rods at this time. There is supposed to be a way to put a compression fitting on the rods, but I couldn't locate such a tool for rental nor fittings for sell. Both the broadcast folks and the contesters said Cadweld was a good bet for my in...

Re: 1.25 m band?

I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for a decent 1.25 rig in the future.

Thanks,
Chris

Re: Kenwood TS 480SAT - TCXO

Eric,

Appreciate the response. I plan to keep the rig in the house in the short term. The TCXO has a steep markup and I've heard it may be possible to find a alternative for much less. Will explore the options if I need it.

Thanks,
Chris

Grounding System tips

Just installed new grounding system at the house and came up with a few tips: Grounding situations vary depending on location, but if you are running off of the mains power, you want to ground antennas and etc to mains. You also need to decide how to ground towers, feedlines from outside and protect...

1.25 m band?

Visited the Bridgecom systems booth at HamCom and saw they had a 220 MHz repeater and were coming out with a mobile radio for that band. http://www.bridgecomsystems.com/ I'm not aware of how many 220 systems are reachable in the area or if this band has a future, but I would be interested if someone...

Kenwood TS 480SAT - TCXO

I had the opportunity to use the 480 in Goliath assisting with the Digital (PSK31) station for field day. Had a great time. Does this radio have the TCXO option added in? Was wondering because I want to use this same mode on my TS 480 once I get a HF antenna going.

Thanks,
Chris

Hello from Old Town Lewisville

Hello fellow DCARAians!

Just spent the weekend installing ground system and antenna at the house. Have a few more hours of work then I'll be on the air with a bit more power. :D
